We are delighted to announce that an RSABI charity clay shoot has been arranged for Sunday 13th May this year at the superb new shooting ground on Forrest Estate near Dalry. We would be delighted if you are able to enter a team or sponsor a stand at this event, which raises funds for RSABI.

RSABI, formerly known as the Royal Scottish Agricultural Benevolent Institute, is Scotland’s only benevolent fund for the land-based industry. RSABI provides financial and welfare assistance to former farmers, farm workers, gamekeepers, ghillies, rural estate workers and more, when these people are no longer able to work, and are struggling on terribly low incomes. This could be as a result of illness, injury, retirement or other unforeseen circumstance, and leaves many of Scotland’s rural workers facing rather desperate times.

The shoot will be run for teams of four, and will include a 50 bird sporting event shot over a variety of stands, and a 60 bird per team pheasant flush. There will also be an individual Pool trap running throughout the day, and a Have A Go stand for novices who would like to come along and try their hand at shooting clays.

A number of great prizes will be up for grabs on the day, including the RSABI Members’ ‘Top Shot’ and top team competition. To be entered into the competition and be in with a chance to win this prestigious prize, you must be a supporting member of RSABI. Membership costs just £25/year minimum donation, and is support that the charity truly relies on to help continue this lifeline for our rural workers. If you would like to become a Supporting Member of RSABI, please complete the form enclosed and return with your entry form, or sign up on the day!

The RSABI clay shoot is designed to be challenging but most of all fun – competition will be intense but it is the taking part that really counts!

Teams are asked to meet at Forrest Estate (map enclosed) at 10.00am for registration, bacon rolls. Competition will begin at 10.30am, with lunch followed by prize giving at approximately 4pm.

Teams are asked to provide their own cartridges (fibre wad only and no shot size larger than 6). Please note that extra cartridges will be available for purchase on the day if required.

If you wish to enter a team, or support the day by sponsoring a stand, please contact me no later than 4th May enclosing a cheque made out to ‘RSABI’.  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries and we look forward to seeing you on 13th May!
